GILDA'S CLUB NEW YORK CITY
Living with cancer? Come as you are.TM
Acting Adventures: In part one of the program, children become familiar with the theater and develop acting skills through scene work, acting games, improvisation and creative writing exercises.
The Noogieland Players: In part two, the kids will create a play of their own, collaborating on a script, rehearsing, and performing in the show they have created, with a cast party to follow.
The children’s experiences with cancer and the expression of their feelings will be woven into all aspects of the workshop.
HOW TO JOIN
If your child is interested in participating in the Children’s Theater Workshop, call
(212) 647-9700 and one of our social workers will help you get started.
The Children’s Theater Workshop
has been made possible by a
generous grant from the
American – Italian Cancer Foundation.

In the Children’s Theater Workshop at Gilda’s Club New York City, children who have been touched by cancer use drama as a way to explore their feelings and experiences. Through the creation of a theatrical performance, kids are able to combine emotional support with creative expression in a fun and safe environment.
WHO CAN JOIN
The Children’s Theater Workshop is open to all kids ages 5-12 who have been affected by cancer, either through their own diagnosis or that of a loved one, or who have recently experienced the death of a parent or loved one from cancer. Participation in the program is completely FREE OF CHARGE.
THE PROGRAM
The Children’s Theater Workshop runs throughout the year, leading to the creation and production of a brand new play. The workshop is facilitated by a licensed social worker with a background in the theater.
