Volunteers are the core of Gilda’s Club NYC and we would not be able to offer our free program to cancer patients and their families today without the time, energy, and commitment of our volunteers.
Gilda’s Club NYC offers a range of ways for individuals to volunteer, from an afternoon to an ongoing basis. Help support our organization while meeting new people and being one of 300 volunteers who last year provided more than 1,634 hours of service – the equivalent of $37,582 in savings. The minimum age required to volunteer at Gilda’s Club is 18 years and older. High School students, ages 13-18 may volunteer as part of our Junior Associate Board.

Volunteering for an event can include social events held for our members at the Clubhouse to our fundraising events such as the Gala and Luncheon. Volunteers are asked to help with setup and decorating, maintenance during the event and breakdown.
Become a Workshop Facilitator
Workshops are offered to our members based on three categories: stress-reduction, creative expression and body movement. They take place on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. If you have a talent or expertise you’d like to share with our members, send us a proposal.
New Member Meetings
Cancer survivors or other individuals who have had experience with a family member or friend having cancer, may be trained to become facilitators for our New Member Meetings, which is the first orientation in our membership process.
Do you have an interest in working with children? Perhaps Noogieland is for you! This part of our program takes place weekly and provides children ages 5-12 an opportunity to talk about how they are impacted by cancer. (Subject to a background check)
Volunteers can participate in community outreach activities such as distributing Gilda’s Club materials at health fairs, and/or speaking to groups on behalf of Gilda’s Club.
With such a busy calendar, we are always in need of volunteers to help with invitation stuffing and stamping to data entry and clean-up projects.
Plan Your Own Event
We always offer the option for you to plan your own special event in support of Gilda’s Club. The event should be your own vision and we’ll help you get started! Contact Eileen Jackson or call 212-647-9700 if you are interested in hosting a third-party event.
