Free Housing From Airbnb When Traveling For Cancer Treatment

Airbnb, The Cancer Support Community (CSC) and Gilda’s Club affiliates have partnered to provide free temporary housing for cancer patients and caregivers who are travelling over 50 miles for treatment, provided they meet certain geographic and income criteria through Airbnb’s Open Homes program.

Many people need to travel for medical reasons, and too often the cost of temporary accommodations can be a major barrier to accessing life-saving treatment. Having free, short-term housing can help ease a patient’s financial concerns, while giving them the hope and energy they need to overcome illness. Open Homes lets hosts offer their space for free to people going through a difficult time.

The Associate Board raises nearly $80,000 with The Gildie’s

The Gilda’s Club New York City Associate Board (AB) held their 8th annual fundraising event, The Gildie’s, on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at The Loft at City Winery in New York City. The AB is a group of dedicated New Yorkers who serve as ambassadors of Gilda’s Club NYC and promote our mission through philanthropic initiatives and volunteer work.We are proud to announce that this year the event raised nearly $80,000.

Over 250 guests enjoyed live music by the Pat Roddy Band and listened to our member speaker, Ashley Loesch, tell her moving story. We would like to thank the Event Co-Chairs, Katherine Griffith and Emily Sanchez, as well as Neil Heckman and Meghan Finlayson, our Associate Board Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, for their hard work and support in making this event a success! We look forward to next year!
