Did you know that yoga is the most commonly used complementary health approach in the United States? At Gilda’s Club NYC we offer 6 varieties of yoga workshops on a monthly basis. The yoga classes are part of our healthy lifestyle workshops, with five to six yoga workshops scheduled each week – all completely free for members.
Our yoga workshops include Gentle Yoga, Laughter Yoga, Seated Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga. Instructors for each workshop are professionally trained in their specific practice of yoga and all are volunteers – donating their time and expertise to benefit our members. Gilda’s Club provides all equipment for yoga including mats, blankets, bolsters, and blocks. A typical yoga workshop at Gilda’s Club is one hour, and incorporates slow, gentle movements and may also include guided relaxation, meditation, and sometimes visualization. Some studies suggest that practicing yoga might help people impacted by cancer cope with symptoms and side effects, often helping to reduce anxiety, depression, tiredness and stress for some patients.
